About
The Continuum™ Life Affairs & Planning System is a practical organizational tool developed in Canada to help people record key details and contacts and identify where important documents and records are kept.
Why the system was developed
Important information can be difficult to locate when it is kept in different places, especially during times that may already involve a range of emotions. Bringing the information together in advance can reduce confusion and frustration, leaving fewer practical matters for others to piece together.
The system brings key details, contacts, and document locations together in one organized reference point that can be completed and updated over time.
The binder’s content and organization were also informed by feedback from older adults attending Daniel’s ongoing seminars at seniors’ community centres.
About D. Daniel Sutherland
D. Daniel Sutherland developed the Continuum™ Life Affairs & Planning System and is responsible for its ongoing development. Daniel’s focus is on keeping the system practical, clear, and useful for people organizing their own information and for those who may help them.
Daniel holds the Canadian Certified Seniors Representative (CCSR) certification offered by the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA) and was among the first 25 REALTORS® in Canada to earn it following the certification’s launch in June 2026.
He has also held the Seniors Real Estate Specialist® (SRES®) designation since 2017.
His community involvement includes former board service with a seniors’ community organization, current membership in the Durham Advisory Committee for Community Services (DACCS), and ongoing seminars at seniors’ community centres.
This professional and community background has contributed to Daniel’s understanding of the practical considerations that older adults and their families may encounter while organizing information, planning for changes, and preparing to assist one another.
